Frequently asked questions

Do I retain the rights to my work and the audio produced?

Yes. You retain 100% of the Intellectual Property (IP) for your story and the resulting audio files generated by Audio Forge. Our platform is a production tool, not a publisher. Because you own the rights, you remain fully eligible to sell audiobook rights to traditional publishing houses in the future without any interference from us.

Who decides where my audiobook is hosted?

You do. Currently, Audio Forge provides you with a high-quality MP3 export. You have total autonomy to host these files on your own platforms—whether that is your Patreon, YouTube, SoundCloud, or personal website. You maintain the "Master" files and can take them down from any external site at your own discretion.

How does the "Embeddable Player" affect my IP control?

We are developing an Author-Controlled Embed Link to simplify your workflow. Instead of the hassle of third-party hosting, you can use our player on your own site or blog. Critically, this link is a tool, not a cage. You retain the "Kill Switch" in your Audio Forge home; if you ever need to revoke access or remove the audio from the web, one click disables the link everywhere it is embedded.

If I list my book in the Audio Forge Library, am I locked in?

No. You can choose to opt in or out of the Audio Forge discovery library. We are building this library to help you find new listeners, but you choose if and when your work appears there. It is a distribution option, not a requirement. You can use our "Director Studio" to create your audio and never list it publicly on our platform if you so choose.

Can I "un-publish" or delete my content if I sign a professional deal?

Yes. We understand the journey to publication. If a publisher requires exclusivity, we provide a "Nuke" button to permanently delete your files from our servers. Alternatively, we offer a "Stub" feature (common on platforms like RoyalRoad), where you can remove the full audio but keep a sample or a notice to redirect your fans, preserving the listener metrics you've earned.

Our mission is to support authors on their journey to professional publication. AudioForge gives you proof that your avid readers are also avid listeners, while protecting your intellectual property.
